Corpus Christi Area Photo Album Project - Part II
August and September
and October assignments continuing our Corpus Christi / Greater Corpus Christi
special assignment will be shown. Also start thinking about a logo we
can use for the final presentation. Monday's Dual-SIG meeting is a good
time to take advantage of the Graphics SIG talent base!
In the meantime, a refresher of our on-going special assignment:
Take pictures of CORPUS CHRISTI/GREATER CORPUS CHRISTI. We will compile
all the photos-don’t worry if some people take the same pictures. If we
have a little luck, we can make a photo journal or Brochure about Corpus
Christi. Once the first set of assignment pictures are screened, we can
call for archive pictures from everyone’s file. If the result is super
great, we can get some DIGICAM club recognition. Of course this whole
effort might go bust. It is worth a try. Take lots of pictures and good
luck.
Bring your ten best images to the meeting, and let us know what you did
to get those shots by including EXIF information with each photo.

Corpus Christi Area Photo Album assignment:
Digital Camera SIG, Meeting
of November 20, 2007
There was a pall over our November meeting with the announcement
by John Hoffmann, our leader, that it was no longer reasonable
for him to continue treatment for cancer, and that his death
would be imminent. John has been a gentle guide for our group
since its inception, bringing cohesion and making our learning
process fruitful and fun. He is a good friend, a good man, and a
heck of a good photographer.
We continued the assignment of developing a Corpus Christi
album, with presentations from the following members. Patty
Waits Beasley - Sharp and colorful bird photos, one a white
pelican, the shadows making a silver color; colorful windsurfers
en masse - the regatta? Oil rigs against the sky; beautiful
sunset with iridescent reflections.
Bill Draper - Capturing some of arts of Corpus Christi, a photo
of the Art Center; one of the miradors with the yacht moorage in
the background; Kent Ullberg sculptures in Ullberg Park on Padre
Island - Journey’s End of Kemps Ridgley Turtles and Win-borne,
of two eagles; Ullberg’s It is I sculpture of the Christ on
Shoreline; a in Sherrill Park, a photo of the black marble
globe, memorial to those in the fight against terrorism.
Eve Kerr - Her scenes around the water were in unusually sharp
focus; she used the image stabilization feature on her camera.
She noted the delay in auto focus caused by the IS made it
difficult to capture moving subjects. (Some of us would like to
learn more about this.) Photos included: night photo of a
mirador, reflecting celadon; horses on the beach, pier and
breakers for lines; pelicans in an orange sunset-illuminated
surf; downtown viewed through yacht moorage foreground; signs
associated with fishing and boating; pier with breakers
unusually well-defined; two planes against a white cloud in a
blue sky; great photo of waterfront stairwell, individual
balusters shimmering in the water.
January Assignment: Christmas/Holiday photos
Next meeting: January 15, 2008, 6:30 PM, at the Main Library on
Comanche Street.
